Susan Azar Porterfield

Kaddish

 (for Lucien Stryk)

That trembling

yesterday’s sparrow—

out the glass

branch to branch

“like silly thoughts shared”—

honeysuckle-leaf sleek

and here

me tendering still—

in time.
