Gerard Sarnat

Phnom Penh

Cock crows    crone snores

Khmer shuffles

into her sari, tunes out winter.

Bamboo in the wind

hollow modest

old raft bobs high on spring waters.

Spice-hued robe river

biksa bowl begging

young monks spurt summer lightning.

Pol Pot cooed, Kill, kill

-- lost boys mull skulls

vultures gnaw thirty falls after.
